err...
Battlezone 3012 (or any given year really)
UltraZone? UltraBattleZone
Please not Battlezone Forever - we would like it to be released one day eventually not like Duke Nukem Forever which is taking literally Forever.
BIOWARS III
Introduce a few upgradable BattleTech Mech Warrior type units and call it BIOMECH Unlimited - still very few good mechwarrior type games about - and the Walker in BZII doesn't cut the mustard.

Keep up the good work

I know I'm coming in pretty late in the game, but how about:

BZ:3

 or

BZ:Eternal

I mean everyone knows what BZ stands for, but are we really breaking any copyright laws? Because I'm actually not sure if Atari has copyrighted BZ or something.

BattleZone was the very first computer game I had ever played (like ever... in my life). I have really wanted a sequel for years, but alas no plans have been announced. If this could get off of the ground, then I'd love to contribute in any way that I can!

Darn... Battlezone has been one of my fav's game of my entire life!

I had a dream about it few days ago, and decided to take a look about it over the internet...

And what do i see..? Battlezone 3? OOOO REEEAAAALLLYYY..? <3

Finding a name is pretty hard, cause Battlezone will always be Battlezone, we can't change the name like this, or it'll lose some of its magic...

I used to call Battlezone as BZ while i was still playin' or even talkin' about the game... So why no calling it like it.? A stuff like "BZ: Third Strike" or whatever... I also like the NSDF letters... sounds good, could be a good thing in the game name...

Well... i really think the best name would stand BattleZone. Simply the best.

THATS SO TRUE :S
but still we have to make an new name...

I thought about: "Warzone", but it's already in use by someone with his personal project...

UltraZone?

That's the name of a laser tag place near where I live.  Cheesy I kinda like it though.

Plus the guys at Nadeo who made TrackMania Nations Forever and TrackMania United Forever may have a thing or two to say about that. Cheesy

BIOWARS III

That might work. If Activision/Atari doesn't copyright "bio-metal" we could call it Bio-Metal Wars III, or even just Bio-Metal Wars (it being a new title).

I thought of WarZone but...see above post.  Sad

Really though, if we run out of ideas we really could just call it BZ (or OpenBZ as RAVEgun suggested). We all know what it stands for anyway. And DropZone (with or without the space) works too. Heck, there's a whole lot of great ideas!

There's a strategy game called Warzone 2100... It was one of the first 3D RTS games.

I like Biometal Wars.

BZ1 is the ultimate game! I loved playing it back in the day.

I like Biometal Wars.

That sounds good. I like it but I sorta like the "zone" part to Battlezone. It just has a good ring to it.
This isn't my thing at all but but how about something like "The CombatZone". it's sorta like Battlezone.

If we really need to chnge the name -  the best is Battlezone Open.

It is not good move to change game title, especialy after so many years...
Who recognise that it is still battlezone? Cry
What we can give is the subtitle but I vote with my hands, legs and my dog loegs for good old title perhabs with subtitle.

Agreed. I think everyone here would pretty much like to use the original name with a new subtitle or something of the sort. I thought though that we couldn't use it because Activision had the rights to it. That's the only reason I suggested another name. If we can use the original name, I'm all in.

If someone knows how to find out if we can still use the name "Battlefield".
Do that job please! Smiley
This is one of the most imporant ways how to get players into our game!
But if we can't we can also spam around the world xD
Talking about ["Game Name"], that its the newest battlezone!
Then we might get a lot of attention too!

Well, for a new title for BZ-2 I have suggested

I.S.D.F. Commander

But that won't work for BZ-1 as the ISDF didn't exist then...

I just love playing "Where's Waldo" with the SMF IP logs...

lol, thats also a way to amuse yourself!

But, I thought about this:

(Maybe it will take a lot of work to make)
But to be able to join another team, from witch the commander can allow you to....
Build?
Or give you troops, would also be usefull.
At least not that 2 people of the team, are batteling about what the troops must do Tongue
And you have to accept him in the group, coz I know people can get to annoy you!
(Just like I do in battlefield 2 en Call of Duty 6 Tongue)

Also, I could make a website, thats able to be editted by all of us.
Maybe if I learn more PHP, I can also make it that administrators (adminitrators won't be hard to make) to have to allow the message to be updated.
Or to ban a account.
Also to let people not be able to register to the editting screen after abusing the system or something Tongue

So A website won't be a little a provlem! =D

I got this quote from a post by one of the original programmers.

Quote from: Ken "Ultraken" Miller
Even if we had continued, it wouldn't have been called Battlezone 3. The license was somewhat costly and yielded little benefit, so Activision had planned to let the license revert to Atari after the second game. The "Combat Commander" subtitle was meant to become the name of future sequels had the series continued.

Interesting stuff!

Interesting quote there. Although Combat Commander would work as a title, I think we all pretty much agree that Zone should be part of the name, as even if it wasn't Battlezone we'd still kinda be able to identify with it. To me, Combat Commander sounds like a different game entirely, but with Zone in the name we can at least make some connections to the original. So, why not combine Combat Commander and Battlezone and call it Combat Zone (like Blakeanator suggested)? To the best of my knowledge there is no game called that and it means pretty much the same thing as Battlezone, so I think it would work.

I like Driving Parks' suggestion to keep "zone" in the name.  Combat Zone works for me.

How about: "CombatZone:Genesis" or "BZ:Genesis"
