Just a thread where people can post some cool development tools they've found.

MapZone Editor - You don't have to make textures by hand with this tool. You tweek a bunch of settings and mix some filters untill you get the result you like. I've only had a quick play (since I need to get cracking with the code), but I thought I'ld post it for someone else to look into.

Sculptris - I've only just found this and had a very quick play, but it's looks like a great free alternative to 'organic' 3D modelling kits like ZBrush and Mudbox. Similarly, it lets you paint directly onto the model (including bump maps) in the editor. It's still in alpha, so it's not feature-complete and you have to export it to blender to save it as another file type and reduce the complexity (organic modellers start with very high poly-counts that you reduce when you're finished).

SFXR - A free sound generator. Just keep hitting 'randomize' (with a couple of preferences) until you get a sound you like and then save it. The sounds may not be perfect, but they're ripe for a good tweeking in Audacity to take the edge off.

UnCodeX - An UnrealScript package explorer. Somewhere where you can browse through all the classes and view the code. You can do this with VisualStudio + nFringe, but it's easier to have this open too so you don't loose your place (and it's easier to navigate).

Well, that's 2D, 3D, sound and code covered! Cool
