I try to provide and enable here. I've got several severs ... whatever facilities are needed I can likely provide (for free) ; an SVN or GIT repository (to your preference), communication channels like IRC, ( or TeamSpeak/Ventrilo, again to your preference).

I could set up Trac or Bugzilla (#2 and #3 in bug/issue tracking, and have quite some positive experience with).

Whenever you think we should start using them, post here or PM me if you need help and I'll see what I can do.

I'm used to SVN.

No pref on bug tracker.  However I'm hoping we can also use the bug tracker as a project management tool to assign initial dev work to developers.

A Wiki would also be awesome.

I'd also like to stay updated via a mailing list or RSS feed.

The reason I lost interest in the forums is that there's no RSS feed and I can't be bothered checking the site all the time.

An RSS feed arrives directly in my mailbox though... which I'd read...

> Update: Just switched on the email notification flags in my forums profile.  This might solve the problem.

I haven't used Trac before, but it looks good.
SVN is what I'm used to.

Same with SVN, perfect harmony up in hea'!

Adam, was just about to tell you about notification option Wink give me a ring when when you'd still like to see RSS and I'll see if I can work that out (shouldn't be hard).

Looking to set up Trac. Think it will be quite handy, gonna mount in under battlezone3.com/dev, you'll see it in the intro thingy (should also need some revising soon).

SVN also following soon. I'll keep you posted and inform you in access information and such by email/PM

Don't think notification is working properly.  I switched on notifications for this entire board, and also for topics I reply to, but the emails are arriving very infrequently even when there are lots of messages posted to the forum.  RSS for the entire private discussion boards would be great for me if you can enable that.

Notifications are probably working correctly, just saw at the bottom of one of them:

> More replies may be posted, but you won't receive any more notifications until you read the topic.

Yeah... well I want to get all posts to my email inbox or RSS reader.  Is this do-able?

Got myself an SSH IP block (managed to partially lock myself out of my server Tongue ), so SVN and Trac will have a little bit a delay, will keep you posted.

RSS
Folks! Smiley You can use the following RSS feed to stay up to date with discussion and developments: http://www.battlezone3.com/forum/index.php?action=.xml;type=rss;sa=recent;c=2;limit=10
(that's for the whole Private Boards actually, so any new boards will also appear)

For more/other feeds; You can easily format your RSS feed URL to your to suit your own needs! Wink (check this post for instructions)

Also switching from email notificaiton to RSS, works quite brilliant. Good you brought it up Adam Tongue

Membersgroup/permissions
Where as I first improvised the setup of this board with the moderator status, you'll notice you're now part of the Developers membersgroup, which has more sophisticated permissions and implements the idea properly. (where I first had to unicast, I can now broadcast, also easier to maintain, all that shite)

Right now the Developers membersgroup inherits permissions pretty much from the regular users global permissions (but they don't have write in this board, you do), but perhaps it's more convenient that you inherit permissions from moderators? We're mature enough for that right? Smiley (see local permissions overview) Allows us to better manage and organise information in eachothers posts/topics here (though Trac will mostly take care of that).

RSS works a charm!

Note that I upped my limit from 10 to 40.  Means that if my RSS reader is switched off for a while, there'd need to be more than 40 posts before for I miss any.

That's great to hear! Smiley

SHH is really buggin me. Taking way longer than I anticipated. In the meanwhile I've been looking for other options and ended up at Project Hosting on Google Code. It's pretty sophisticated, and with the simplicity and powerful features you'd expect from Google. Been playing around and from what I can tell this'll be more than sufficient for the while. Includes SVN (3 gigabytes), project wiki, issue tracker, update stream to keep up to date with development (something you might fancy Adam? Wink ). Pretty much all we'll need for the while. Can always move later.

What do you guys think? If you wanna have alook; I've set up something quick and dirty. PM me with your Google Account email address or give me a shout if you've registered with one here and I'll add you to the project.

I was just reading this article on Develop and Dropbox caught my eye. It's a shared space online where you just drag-drop files into their app - and it's free upto 2GB.

I think this is more suited for storing game assets (2D & 3D art, audio & other stuff) than SVN since it doesn't version files (storing large out of date files and taking up space in the reposetory). Instead it just lets you restored deleted files for upto 30 days (can be set to unlimited if you get their Pro package (50GB $10/mo - but for that price we may as well buy extra space on the site).

What do you guys think. Is 2GB enough?
